I don’t know about you but I LOVE Christmas. I simply ADORE Christmas.
It is not just about the holiday or people getting a day off from work, it is not even about the presents (don’t get me wrong I love presents but choosing the correct present can be such a chore)
but it is, firstly, Jesus’ birthday which is an amazing thing already, also because of all the festivities, the fuzzy feeling you get when you think about Christmas, the beautiful lights, that tiny bit of hope that one day, one fine day, it MIGHT snow in Singapore (Though if that happens, it should be a something that we should be worried about) and the FOOD.
Instead of having Turkey like we had last year, we decided to have roast beef because eating Turkey is like eating an oversized chicken and chicken already tastes and has the consistency of cardboard (not like I know what cardboard tastes like but you get what I mean.)
This is a really really simple and delicious salad and I think the magical ingredient is the Japanese Mayo (;A;) It made everything taste good . Try it!
It doesn’t look good in picture but it tastes good. Trust me. IT TASTES GOOD.
(Serves 4)
Japanese Mayo (Kewpie)
8 baby potatoes
Turkey ham
3 hard boiled eggs
pepper and salt to taste
I used smoked salmon but the purple cabbage was a wrong choice though it made the salad prettier ![]()
My sister added too much pepper as you can see (=3=)
We couldn’t make many dishes as my uncle and his girlfriend eats as my aunt likes to put it “like cats”. After a few bites, they would say they’re full (-__-)”
We also made almond Pudding but I forgot to take a picture or it ): I didn’t know that almond pudding was so much easier to make than Konnyaku Jelly. Plus it sets in half the time!
So Christmas is also a festival for giving and this graph from The Oatmeal clearly shows the problem we face every Christmas.
And I’ve got to say, the worst present anybody can give me is a stuffed toy. People who know me would know that I do not like stuffed toys because I find it a total waste of space especially if that stuffed toy is not cute and giving it away to somebody else isn’t the nicest thing to do. Stuffed toys are like gifts that scream “I don’t know what to get for her but since she’s a girl she must like stuffed toys right?” but I’ll still accept the gift with a polite: “Thank you and a very merry Christmas to you too”.
I’ve received quite an array of gifts and cards this year but the nicest and the most thoughtful one has got to be this Christmas card from my best friend of all time – Jessica <3
I love presents but I like little thoughtful stuff like handwritten cards. It is not everyday we get cards, now that there’s the internet.
I hope all of you has had a wonderful Christmas this year
So… This is wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
