I wish Christmas lasted a whole month

Posted on

I don’t know about you but I LOVE Christmas. I simply ADORE Christmas.

It is not just about the holiday or people getting a day off from work, it is not even about the presents (don’t get me wrong I love presents but choosing the correct present can be such a chore)

but it is, firstly, Jesus’ birthday which is an amazing thing already, also because of all the festivities, the fuzzy feeling you get when you think about Christmas, the beautiful lights, that tiny bit of hope that one day, one fine day, it MIGHT snow in Singapore (Though if that happens, it should be a something that we should be worried about) and the FOOD.

Instead of having Turkey like we had last year, we decided to have roast beef because eating Turkey is like eating an oversized chicken and chicken already tastes and has the consistency of cardboard (not like I know what cardboard tastes like but you get what I mean.)

Dinner planning

Christmas Dinner :D

Potato Salad

This is a really really simple and delicious salad and I think the magical ingredient is the Japanese Mayo (;A;) It made everything taste good . Try it!
It doesn’t look good in picture but it tastes good. Trust me. IT TASTES GOOD.

(Serves 4)
Japanese Mayo (Kewpie)
8 baby potatoes
Turkey ham
3 hard boiled eggs
pepper and salt to taste

Salmon salad

I used smoked salmon but the purple cabbage was a wrong choice though it made the salad prettier :D
My sister added too much pepper as you can see (=3=)

Roast Beef from Jack's Place with black pepper gravy

We couldn’t make many dishes as my uncle and his girlfriend eats as my aunt likes to put it “like cats”. After a few bites, they would say they’re full (-__-)”

Fruit cake that costed 32 bucks -.- So NOT worth it

We also made almond Pudding but I forgot to take a picture or it ): I didn’t know that almond pudding was so much easier to make than Konnyaku Jelly. Plus it sets in half the time!

So Christmas is also a festival for giving and this graph from The Oatmeal clearly shows the problem we face every Christmas.
And I’ve got to say, the worst present anybody can give me is a stuffed toy. People who know me would know that I do not like stuffed toys because I find it a total waste of space especially if that stuffed toy is not cute and giving it away to somebody else isn’t the nicest thing to do. Stuffed toys are like gifts that scream “I don’t know what to get for her but since she’s a girl she must like stuffed toys right?” but I’ll still accept the gift with a polite: “Thank you and a very merry Christmas to you too”.

How well you know someone VS how well they are to shop for

I’ve received quite an array of gifts and cards this year but the nicest and the most thoughtful one has got to be this Christmas card from my best friend of all time – Jessica <3

Christmas Card from my best buddy <3

I love presents but I like little thoughtful stuff like handwritten cards. It is not everyday we get cards, now that there’s the internet.

I hope all of you has had a wonderful Christmas this year

So… This is wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Dinner with Uncle Miki

Had dinner the other day with Uncle Miki.

He’s like a long lost uncle from Israel really but the last time I met him was when I was 11.
He didn’t recognise me at all and commented that my sister looks like me when I was younger

Went to A Roy Thai which like the name suggests is a restaurant which serves Thai food.
The food was so – so and were not value for money because the portions were tiny. Like really tiny.
Plus the pineapple rice was served within 5mins of ordering and it was cold which suggests that that plate has either been sitting around for quite long or it was pre cooked.
The waiters were not really polite as well as they kept rushing us to order when we just sat down at our table not long ago.
Overall experience was not really fantastic. Will never go back there to eat again.

Uncle Miki was kind enough to buy Soju and ice wine from Korea for us :D
If not, I am pretty sure he’ll buy truck loads of chocolates for us again and I’ll probably gain 5kg from eating too much chocolate D:

Can’t wait to meet him again! (^O^)/~

Views on “CSUN ASIAN LIBRARY FINALS FREAKOUT 2011″

So I chanced upon this video on Youtube and the thing that alarmed me is not the fact that this Asian girl is freaking out just because people are making a lot of noise in the library, which I can totally understand because I would do that if I were in her shoes and wait till she comes to the “library” at my school. It is horrible. IT ISN’T A LIBRARY.
The thing that alarms me is the fact that the comments on this video is just vile.

People say stuff like “F*cking n*ggers, they don’t give a shit about school study, would rather troll people who really study so they can upload videos and laugh.” or “What do you expect? They’re n*ggers. They wouldn’t know how to shut the fuck up. It’s in their DNA to be loud, disrespectful, and obnoxious monkeys.”

I’m not saying that I’m perfect or anything. I do make such comments when foreigners do disgusting things in my country like the other time when there was a lady from PRC who carried her child over a trash bin in a shopping centre and allowed that kid to pee into the trash bin and mind you, it is in public of course people are going to comment and hate and such but in the case of the video, people don’t even know who took the video and start to bombard the “blacks” and call them names and bring out all the stereotypes like “because they’re black they have to steal, be unsuccessful in their lives, have 9384723 kids and end up in jail” but mind you, your president is an African american.

So like what I like to say: “The world would be a better place if everyone were colour blind”

Went to Chek Jawa today with the school because the teacher said that it’ll help for one of our modules.

The most peculiar thing was that we were staring at a pile of squirrel poop  (.__.)

But it was fun nonetheless (´ー`)ノ

Went to have the famous Nasi Lemak.
The queue was crazy like really really crazy D:
But the food didn’t meet up to my expectations. ╭(╯3╰)╮

Can’t wait to get back to Ubin. Really love it there (^-^)

School as usual but today was Mamun’s lesson -____-
Not that i]I dislike Mamun but just that his accent is really very very difficult to understand,
plus it makes him sound funny and being nice, I would never laugh at him. ok I lied.
I would laugh at his accent BUT only privately not like my classmates who laugh at him in his face -__-

And i spent my evening watching The Vampire Diaries
